KaraKelebek means "Black Butterfly" - she used it as a penname and blogname

"What the caterpillar calls the end of the world, the master calls a butterfly."
--RICHARD BACH

Author of Jonathan Livingstone Seagull (1970).
Lloyd, John; Mitchinson, John (2009-07-28).

She loved this book.

This photo is from our first year in Konya, maybe the first week we were here. At Nezih and Gülbün Onur's house, enjoying fruits from the garden.

Aundreta and a point from "The Point"

She would change "man" to "woman" before she said it aloud, but the idea fits her exactly. #bubblegumadventures #thankyouforthat

If you observe a really happy man, you will find him building a boat, writing a symphony, educating his son, growing double dahlias in his garden, or looking for dinosaur eggs in the Gobi desert. He will not be searching for happiness as if it were a collar button that has rolled under a radiator.
--W. BERAN WOLFE

Although he survives for most people only through this quote, Walter Beran Wolfe was a real person, an Austrian-born American psychiatrist and student/translator of Alfred Adler. It comes from his masterpiece, How to Be Happy Though Human (1931), which was one of the first self-help bestsellers. Wolfe died in an accident at the age of thirty-five.

Hexagram 64 - Inner Truth

"Hexagram 64 - Inner Truth"

A mother can understand the most important lesson of life,
That Love makes things real,
Even if a thing is unseen,
Or cannot speak,
Or does not respond.
Love is more real than rolled eyes,
More true than tears,
More concrete than success or failure.

I grow tired of moments
Where I have to 'cling to life',
It feels dishonest,
Because Love is real,
it only needs to be acknowledged.
And moments are only tools to celebrate Love,
Life cannot be 'clung to',
That is an agreement we make with each other.
Love is real, but I am not,
To pretend that I am is something we agree to do,
Love is truth, but we are only tools for truth
To show itself to itself,
To turn the jewel and let Light shine through it,
Become one with it,
Illuminate the worlds with its own energy,
Become fluid and air, and fill the spacelessness
With new vibrations.

Love is always connecting with itself,
So there is no "you" or "I" -- Love amplifies into Being.
If it is not Love, I have no interest in it,
Wherever Love is, stay there, right there,
Wherever Love is, be in that place, and no other.
If you agree to go somewhere else,
Enjoy it.
If you can.

Some interesting miniature chess games - Kingscrusher Radio Show 15th Oc...

While looking for truth, I see the power of a good miniature, whether it be on the board or in life. When it is well played, it is unforgettable. #tealteamaundreta

Making learning fun for Hazırlık students - Spelling Bee 2012-13

In 2011, Aundreta (my wife) was fascinated with the film Akeelah and the Bee that I picked up at the local D&R bookshop here in Konya.  We had watched it together at the cinema when it first came out years ago. She wanted to show it to the students, and they really enjoyed it. We had not considered that the Turkish students would have never had need of a Spelling Bee, since the wonderfully efficient Turkish system is phonetic itself. We found that it makes a great teaching tool here as well for the English as Second Language students.

Despite her temporary absence this year, the Hazırlık program continued with the Spelling Bee. The competition was fierce, and the tiered learning system was useful -- each level was only responsible for the words they had covered. It worked smoothly.

I am proud of all the competitors, and of the champions pictured here above. Feyza Nur B. (left) and Mehmet Akif E. (center) were in my class, so I knew their strengths and abilities.
